How To Be Cool - With Lighting

Let's talk lighting. Something that can be criminally underrated when designing a space. It is often treated as an afterthought, a functional box to check, but it deserves so much more credit.

Think about it like this: when you put an outfit together, the last piece you select is your jewelry, but it's rarely an afterthought. This piece really ties the whole look together and adds something special and personalized. It elevates the entire outfit from “put together” to “styled”.

Lighting works the exact same way; it is the jewelry of a space. It adds the final touch that takes a space from decorated to designed. A fixture with real character makes a space feel finished, intentional and personal.

So, don't be afraid to play with lighting. Choose fixtures with a personality, and let them do the talking. A fun lamp, a sculptural chandelier or an unexpected sconce can add a needed statement to a space without being overwhelming.

The one thing you have to promise not to use is the bright white LEDs. This makes a space feel clinical and flat, draining out the warmth of every other design decision no matter how good it is.

This additional touch to a space is, in our opinion, how a space becomes really cool. It is the difference between a room that looks nice and one that feels good to be in.
