How To Be Cool - With Personality
Pedro Pascal wasn’t wrong. If “daddy” is a state of mind, then so is design.
What’s interesting is that when you strip away the noise of trends, you start to see the real heartbeat of fashion and interiors: how we actually feel. Not just individually, but collectively. The things we wear and the spaces we live in are reflections of that mood.
And right now? The collective is restless. We’re over-saturated. Globalization made it possible for everyone to have access to the same aesthetics - and in the process, uniqueness got watered down. That fatigue is why boucle armchairs are now stacked in clearance aisles. Why another “it” bag doesn’t feel aspirational; it feels… tired.
The new standard in “cool” isn’t about being on trend. It’s about opting out. It’s choosing to embrace your personal quirks and unapologetically designing around them. That could mean breaking “rules,” mixing eras, or using your home in ways that feel right for you rather than what Pinterest boards tell you.
Because here’s the truth: interior spaces are for living. They’re for stretching, for celebrating, for working, for cocooning, for becoming who you’re supposed to be. When you take ownership of that, you move past design as decoration and into design as identity.
And that? That’s the real definition of cool.
